ForSea has officially put into operation two of the world''s largest zero-pollution ferryboats, which have undergone all-electric modification, and recently held a ceremony.
It is reported that the two ferries were converted from traditional diesel engine power to battery power in the Zaresund dry dock. The two refitted ferries, named "Tycho Brahe" and "Aurora", were built in 1991 with a length of more than 100 meters. Each ship was equipped with 4160 kWh batteries and batteries, energy storage control system and ABB''s shipboard DC grid distribution technology.
Marcus Hgblom, head of passenger ship, dry cargo and ice for ABB Ship and Port Business, said, "This project marks a profound transformation of the shipping industry, points the way for zero pollution operation and IMO decarbonization targets, and is proud to have delivered pioneering solutions for this project."
ABB also supplies an automated shore charging station, which uses an industrial robot to optimize the power connection time and maximize the distribution of charging time. It also uses 3D laser scanning and wireless communication between ships and shores.
