Origin and distribution:
Rongchang pig is a Southwest pig, originally from two counties in Rongchang and Longchang of Sichuan province. It is mainly distributed in over 10 counties and cities such as Yongchuan, Luxian County, Dazu, Hejiang and Jiangjin. It is one of the few white pig breeds in China''''s local pig breeds. Rongchang pig has been extended to more than 20 provinces and cities such as Yunnan, Shaanxi, Hubei, Anhui, Zhejiang, Beijing, Tianjin and Liaoning.
Shape characteristics:
The head is small in size, slightly concave in face, small in size and pendulous in the ears, with a round face on the forehead, a middle body, a concave waist, a large abdomen, and a thick buttock. Most of the eyes are black spots on the sides, head, tail roots and body. The other parts are white. The mane is 11~15 centimeters long, and the longest is 20 centimeters. The 1 pigs can produce 200~300 grams of bristles, and the net gross rate is 90%. The production performance of 6-month-old boars was 50.4 kg in weight, 98.6 cm in length, 46.2 kg in weight and 95.2 cm in length. Under the condition of moderate nutrition level, the average daily gain was 488g, the slaughter rate was 71%, the lean meat rate was 41%, the pig''''s mane value was higher, generally 11~15cm, and the longest was more than 20cm. A pig could produce bristle 200~300g. It was famous for its whiteness and toughness. It could be used for export at home and abroad. The boar was 57 days old and had 4 month old spermatozoa. It is 86 days old and can be first mated from 4 to 5 months old.
Rongchang pig is famous for its delicate meat and thin skin. It has been breeding for more than 400 years. It is said that in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, the immigrants from Guangdong and Hunan brought the local pig breeds to Sichuan, and the southwest pig breeds formed through breeding.
This pig is of medium build. Generally, except for the black spots with different sizes around the eyes and the head, the rest parts are white, with a moderately large head, concave face, small ears, drooping waist, large and deep back, slightly sloping buttocks, long white hair, and 6 pairs of nipples.
For other pig breeds, "Rongchang pig" is a treasure of the whole body. Besides its meat, bone and viscera, it can be used for cooking and eating. Its long long mane is also a good material for making hair brush and brush.
